“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

We all know we can bring all our worries and cares to the Lord in prayer and do we ever! Often, from the moment we sit down to pray. Every prayer is all about the supplication.

Of course, it is not wrong. The Lord wants us to bring our concerns to Him, but too often when we do, we forget who we are talking to. We easily fall into the thinking that God is our fixer and the only time we talk to Him is when we need something.

Do continue to put all that is troubling your heart to the Lord, but do it more with thanksgiving and praise. Thank and praise Him too for whatever you are going through because He is using all of this to build a new, more beautiful you.

There’s so much to be thankful for contained in this verse. Through Jesus, God showed us his mercy and his love. Through Jesus, we are made new.

Through Jesus, we are given an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. Because He is risen, our hope is alive, not wishful thinking. The magnitude of what Christ has done for us is so great, we can never thank him enough.

Journal prompt:

  1. What are you anxious about today?  Write it down and offer it to God for healing.
