Drown out negative thoughts by speaking God’s Promises over your life!

I love starting my day by speaking God’s amazing promises over my life.  It builds up my spirit and prepares me to face the day ahead.

There are still days though when I am hit with negative thoughts. Thoughts that try to take my joy and distract me from remembering who I am and whose I am.

Days when I am filled with fear, confusion, disappointment. When I am weary, feel alone or forget the mighty power of my God.

Do you have days like that?

They can seem very overwhelming and keep us from truly living the way God wants us to live.

Thankfully, God in His goodness, has given us His own words to remind us of His amazing love. That is why its so important to speak God’s promises over our lives so that we can drown out all those negative thoughts.

When I am feeling fearful I remind myself that “God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of power, and love and sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7.

So if the feeling of fear that I have did not come from God then where did they come from? They come from the opposite of God and love. And if that’s where its coming from, I want no part of it!

God does not give fear for He is love and gives love!

When I am feeling disappointed, especially if something I make a mistake or fail in some way, I remind myself that God says “My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthian 12:9

And I realize that maybe the thing I was excited about wasn’t really the best thing for me; that God has something else  – even better – planned for me!

I hope that you will fill your mind with so much of God’s words that it drowns out any and all negative thoughts.  There will still be days when you feel down, angry and frustrated but I have found that when I repeat God’s words to myself, constantly and with faith, the negative thoughts don’t stay too long.

Many of us started the year with a “word of the year”. My word this year is CREATE. But I’ve decided that in addition to a word I will also take with me through 2019, a “verse of the year” which is a Bible verse that will become my mantra that I can cling to and repeat to myself each day.

One of my absolute favorite verse and promise is Jeremiah 29:11 and this is my verse for this year.  The one I say when things get though to encourage me and the one I say when I am praising my God for all His blessings.  It helps me to remain humble and trust in the Lord and His promises.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.”

What is  or will be your favorite verse for 2019? Will you search the Bible today to find a verse that speaks to you and hold on to it as your mantra this year?

If you’d like to share, I’d love to know your verse.

  1. I think we all have days when life’s pressures and our negative emotions can feel overwhelming, but it is so important to make the choice to focus on God’s promises and to remember that they are always true, no matter how we feel.

Thank you Leslie. It’s so true. We all get overwhelmed from time to time. Knowing and speaking these promises can really help shift the focus and uplift your spirit. Thanks for stopping by!! Xo

    2. Amen! God is always available to us as we go and grow through things.

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you.”
      📖 1 Peter 5:7

      1. I sometimes feel like my negative thoughts are intentional. Thank you for this, I will keep at it till i can contradict every negative thought and progress!

  2. Eva: These are awesome affirmations to remind us of who we are and who we belong too! Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Each day, I rise and rejoice knowing God is on my side and fighting my battles in the heavenlies.

You referenced one my favorite scriptures: “God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of power, and love and sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

It takes constant vigilance to cancel out automatic negative thoughts. I remind myself to relax, release, let go, and let God. I know I am blessed and I am a blessing made in the image of God.

Our mindsets matter. We always get the victory by speaking life and prosperity! \o/

This is very good however, I’m starting to learn that the words I sow will manifest so how do I root up all the negative words I’ve sown and even the negative words spoken to and over my life. Also will the promises also work for my family
