Do you feel spiritually stuck? Like you are seeking and seeking God but cannot find Him. You can’t feel His presence? Could it be that you are trying too hard? It might be time to stop seeking God.
I’m just going to come right out and say it. It’s time to stop seeking God!
I know what you’re probably thinking, “this Eva girl is crazy! What is she talking about?” I mean this is an incredibly bold statement, right?
Let me explain.
I was watching an Amazon Prime documentary on Fr. Thomas Keating, a spiritual leader and monk who started Centering Prayer and was reminded that God is not somewhere hiding, waiting for us to find Him.
In fact, Fr. Keating explains that:
“Nothing is more beautiful than the uniqueness that God has created.
-You don’t have to create the beauty ~ you´ve got the beauty.
– You don’t have to create the freedom ~ you´ve got it.
– You don´t have to create the image of God in you ~ you have it.
– You don´t have to win over God´s love ~ you have more than you know what to do with.” (emphasis mine)
How beautiful is that? God is not in the business of playing hide-and-go-seek.
God, in fact, is all around us. He is already with us.
It got me thinking that many of us (me included) spend so much energy each day seeking Him.
Could it be, that we don’t have to worry so much about seeking Him but rather be more diligent about recognizing Him?
What if you and I accepted fully and completely the idea that our God, who made heaven and earth, our Creator, the one who is and was and always will be is already with us.
We do not always have to be so caught up in the seeking. We can CHOOSE to believe that it already is.
We don’t have to seek His love. We just have to say YES to it. It is already ours.
We don’t have to seek His blessings. We just have to claim it as our own. It is already ours.
We don’t have to keep asking where He is. We just have to believe that He is where He always has been, with us, around us, protecting and guiding us.
How would your life change if this was your new mindset?
What if today was a day you changed from seeking Him and move into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him?
This idea gets me so excited and makes me jump out of bed with joy each day.
Jeremiah 33:3 tells us to “Call to me and I will answer you; I will tell you wonderful and marvelous things that you know nothing about.”
Instead of seeking, we can call instead. We can pray to Him.
Whenever I feel like God is not near me, I simply reverse my thinking and remind myself that just because I can’t feel Him doesn’t mean He is not there.
So I intentionally whisper to myself “God is here with me now. He is near me always.”
Simply uttering these words changes how I pray. It makes God so much more real and present despite anything that might be going on around me.
What does this mean for you?
If God is already with us and we are His, then what does that mean for you and me? Well, it means that we pray with faith that He is listening and will answer in His perfect timing.
It means, that we act in such a way that shows others that we are different because our God is near us. It means we don’t watch certain shows or partake in certain activities because those might be things that can harm our relationship with God.
Furthermore, this newfound belief helps us to treat others with love and patience because the source of our own joy and love is near us and sustains us with so much that we can readily give to others.
Remember This
Your God loves you and wants to be in a relationship with you. He wants you to know Him on a deep and intimate level.
Let’s cling to the words of Zephania 3:17 which says:
The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
He wants to be the God of your life and wants to bless you with all good things. He has already given us His love, all we have to do is recognize it and accept it as ours.
May His peace and overflowing love wash over and rest upon you always.

What a beautiful message! There have been times when I feel very distant from God or haven’t felt His presence, and felt like I would need to find ways to feel assured He is with me. But thanks to you, I have gotten a deeper understanding in really acknowledging and recognizing that God has and is always here with me, and that instead of searching for Him, I would need to recognizing Him. I am very thankful for coming across this, thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your reply. It means a lot to have you as part of this community. xo
Amen! The omnipresence of God is mind blowing to me. I’ve been having that mindset lately, just remembering that He is always with me (Matthew 28:20) whether I feel Him or not. God bless you
Yes! Thanks for stopping by and being part of the conversation. This realization can really shift the way we pray and go through our day. It’s made a huge impact on my life for sure. Have a great day. God bless. xo
What a good reminder of this truth. I found myself trying to find an answer and sinking back into that mindset- and yes, couldn’t “find” Him, even thought I have walked with HIm for almost 50 years! Thanks for writing!
Thank you Amanda for sharing it. So glad you found it helpful. We all need the reminder from time to time. 🙂 xo
